Bishop Jonathan Eze has blamed Niger Delta leaders for allowing the situation in the region get out of hand.
The general overseer of Victory Assembly Ministry (VAM), Bishop Jonathan Eze has warned the Niger Delta militants to stop blowing up oil pipelines or be prepared to face the wrath of God.

The Bishop Eze who was reacting to the incessant attacks on oil pipelines by new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on Thursday, July 7, in Owerri said the avengers are incurring the wrath of God by their activities, Vanguard reports.

“The Avengers are not fighting a just cause because their activities are affecting and threatening the peace of the nation.

“Nigerian oil is a natural gift from God and nobody has the right to destroy it,’’ he said.

The cleric who is also a UN peace ambassador said if the Avengers were aggrieved over any issue, they should address it in a civil manner rather than threaten the country.

He said if the country must remain one, no group should threaten the peaceful existence of the nation in the name of militancy.

Eze blamed Niger Delta leaders for allowing the situation to “get out of hand’’.


“The leaders in the Niger Delta region are to be blamed because they are the people that groomed the militants and they should call them to order.

“How can there be governors, senators, traditional rulers and other top government officials from the region; and yet they cannot caution their children from destroying government assets,’’ he said.

He said spiritual leaders in the country will have to engage the militants in spiritual warfare if they do not stop the bombings

Eze however, urged the federal government to take a critical look into the issue and handle it with diplomacy.

Meanwhile, the JNDLF is set to destroy up to 10 oil and gas pipelines from Ogboinbiri in Southern Ijaw of Bayelsa state to Obrinkon in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers state — the annoucment was made by the leadership of the group during their meeting in Yenagoa.

The militants also warned about the planned attacks on the flow stations of Ogboinbiri, Oporoma, Peremabiri, Tabidaba, Nembe, Brass, Chevron platform in Koluama, Okordia-Zarama and Biseni, including Gbarain-Ubie gas gathering plant.

Why Senate may impeach President Buhari

On June 12, Tuesday, the rumours emerged that Nigerian senators alongside Senate president Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu are initiating move to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, later the people who were accused of plotting against the president denied the reports.

Nigeria, like most democratic societies, has one of such mechanisms and this is known as “Impeachment or removal”.

According to the Nigerian Constitution, the president or vice president may be removed from office in accordance with the provisions of 143 section, chapter six, part one:

“Whenever a notice of any allegation in writing signed by not less than one-third of the members of the National Assembly:-

“(a) is presented to the President of the Senate;


“(b) stating that the holder of the office of President or Vice-President is guilty of gross misconduct in the performance of the functions of his office, detailed particulars of which shall be specified,

“the President of the Senate shall within seven days of the receipt of the notice cause a copy thereof to be served on the holder of the office and on each member of the National Assembly, and shall also cause any statement made in reply to the allegation by the holder of the office to be served on each member of the National Assembly.”

Samsung To Announce Galaxy Note 7 On Aug. 2

Samsung has revealed plans for an event on August 2nd in New York City where it will officially announce the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.

NIRA Registers 2,767 Domain Names In June

Sunday Folayan, the President of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association, on Sunday said 2,767 domain names were registered in June.
Folayan made this known in a statement in Lagos.
The statement said there was an increase of 79 registered domain names in June when compared to the 2,688 registered in May.
It said 1,686 domain names were renewed in June, noting that there was an increase of 163 renewals when compared to the 1,523 renewed in the month of May.
According to the statement, the association transferred 96 domain names, showing an increase of 19, compared to the 77 transferred in May.
It said: “The domain name registration in May was high compared to the registrations in the past three months of this year. The renewal rate also showed an increase in the past two months.
“The total number of domain names registration from January to June 2016 is 14,966 registrations and 9,271 renewals.

“It is interesting and refreshing to witness such growth. The renewal rate is also encouraging with the increase in the past two months.”
It said that .ng, like naira and the +234 country code, was the official Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers approved country code Top Level Domain for Nigeria.
The statement added that the availability of names was better on the .ng ccTLD than on the generic top-level domain like .com, .org.
It said with the .ng, the country’s primary DNS servers were secured and locally managed with multiple cast servers located around the world.
The statement added that hosting businesses on the .ng would help to support the Nigerian economy and provide jobs for local Information Technology professionals.

Nigerian Facial Surgeon Discovers Possible Cure For Malaria

The adult human facial sebum (oil) contains potent mosquito repellent properties, says a Nigerian facial surgeon, Dr Bayo Aluko-Olokun.
Aluko-Olokun, a Facial Surgeon at the Department of Facial Surgery, National Hospital, Abuja, made this known in an interview on Tuesday in Abuja.
The expert said he made the discovery after conducting studies at the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria, Lagos, in 2015, by testing the reaction of life mosquitoes to sebum-coated paper.
According to him, he applied the sebum to a piece of paper and placed beside another with no substance applied in a transparent 70ml glass bottle.
“Evidence of mosquito bite is often seen on the face of children in the third world. This is rarely seen in adults as adults produce copious facial skin sebum in contradistinction to children.
“Five live mosquitoes were introduced into the bottle and the highest number of mosquitoes standing on each piece of paper at any point in time was noted over 50 minutes.
“The total length of time in seconds, during which there was at least one insect on each piece of paper was also noted and comparison of the results was then done.
“Up to three mosquitoes perched on the uncoated paper at the same time while none did on the sebum-coated paper.
“The total period of time during which at least one mosquito was found perching on the uncoated paper was 2851 seconds out of 3000, while zero seconds was recorded for the sebum-coated paper out of 3000.
“The results of this preliminary study appear to indicate that human facial sebum holds promise as a mosquito repellent and this calls for further study of this phenomenon,” Aluko-Olokun said.

He said that this finding was published in the Volume two, 2016, issue of the Research Journal of the University of Mauritius.
He said presently, the Department of Chemistry and Entomology, University of Ilorin, was carrying out further studies on the properties of the sebum to reveal the active principle.
However, he called on stakeholders and the international community to key into the discovery by undertaking more studies and research on the properties of the sebum as a likely repellent against mosquito bite.
He said that this study could help end the scourge of diseases caused by mosquito bite such as malaria, dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis and the microcephaly known as the Zika virus.
He said that the dengue fever afflicted up to 580 million individuals yearly while the Japanese encephalitis had a fatality rate of 0.3-60 per cent.
According to Aluko-Olokun, malaria accounts for more than a million deaths yearly mostly involving children.
“Most of these deaths occur in low-income countries where citizens are unable to afford mosquito repellent.’’
He said that the search for a cheap, natural, effective and harmless alternative to currently available proprietary products could yield positive results and benefit for the people.
Aluko-Olokun said that apart from its medical implications this finding could also have positive effect on pest control in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage industry.

Admit Students Through JAMB Not Post-UTME – FG Warns Warns Nigerian Universities

The Federal Ministry of Education on Monday sent a strong-worded statement to Nigerian universities, warning them that only the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) can admit students.

The Director, Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mr. Ben Goong, stated that any institution that acted against the directive would have itself to blame.
He denied media reports that the earlier decision to cancel post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was upturned.

The ministry insisted that universities “had no business admitting candidates other than those sent to it by JAMB but could screen candidates to remove those with anti-social traits and suspicious credentials”.
The federal government said while the ban on post-UTME stayed, screening was only for those admitted by JAMB and limited to examination of credentials and physical examination of candidates to ensure that they are not of questionable characters.

“All these should be done upon resumption. No university is allowed to have anything to do with any applicant who is not its student. Screening and registration are only for those who have been admitted by JAMB,” the ministry stressed.
